This game is in Early Access, so not all planned features have been implemented. The current version includes single player game modes with Earth, Water, and Fire magic only.

When we were young, wizards like Gandalf and Dumbledore struck a chord in our minds. We spent hours pretending to be wizards and casting epic imaginary spells. Now, we want to bring that kind of creative freedom to video games. Instead of giving the player pre-packaged spells, CodeSpells allows you to craft your own magical spells. It's the ultimate spellcrafting sandbox.


What makes it all possible is code. The game provides a coding interface where you can specify exactly what your spells will do. This interface is intuitive enough for individuals (young and old) who have never coded before. But skilled coders will also enjoy using their coding skills in new and creative ways! Even children can use this interface to make mountains out of the terrain, make an impenetrable force field around yourself, or even make a golem creature out of the surrounding rocks. * Spell-crafting sandbox: Craft and test your spells on the surrounding landscape - lift rocks, whip a river up into a tornado, anything! The spells are cooler spells than in any video game to date -- because you and the rest of the CodeSpells community have complete control over them. If you'd rather use "boxed" spells (maybe for inspiration before designing your own spells) these will be available too!

* Unlimited creative expression: With 4 different elements (earth, fire, water, air) and the ability to combine those elements in complex ways, the number of spells you can create is literally infinite.

* Learn some coding: If you already know coding, great! If not, CodeSpells uses an intuitive drag-and-drop language that even children can use. It's the coolest way to learn one of the world's most valuable skills.

* Share spells with friends (Coming Soon): As soon as you create a new spell, send it over to your friends for them to try out! CodeSpells will have community forums where users can show off their favorite spells with other wizards or work collaboratively on spell projects.

* Play Online (Coming Soon): Create new game modes to play with and against your friends. We'll give you the tools to make anything from a survival game to a new magic-based sport!

“Before the main release we plan to polish and test our Story Builder - a tool accessible to anyone with Overfall that allows them to create their own stories and upload them to the Steam Workshop.
One of the main strengths of Overfall comes from the stories you encounter during a playthrough, an island-to-island experience where you don’t just sail around trying to save the world - you can just as easily encounter a charming stand-alone story or a self-contained quest progression. The more of these encounters we have, the richer and more fun the overall experience will be. We wanted these encounters to be perfect, and to achieve that, we started searching for ways to improve our storytelling. One day - Yagiz introduced us to (as you see them both in our credits now) one of the most prominent game designers and writers of our era, Chris Avellone himself, who you will remember from Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale series, Baldur’s Gate, Fallout: New Vegas, FTL and many others. We came up with the idea of having a Game Writing Style Guide, which would explain the basics of creating a story in Overfall, give some ideas on how to write a good story, and outline Overfall’s writing style with a couple of examples. And we already were in touch with the best person for writing this kind of guide, not only because he’s a great writer with worlds of experience, but also because he’s great mentor material. Thankfully Chris was happy to work on it and thought laying out one might be helpful for both Overfall and for any budding game writers out there. Now our plan is to finish and release the story builder along with the game, and to write more stories in the light of the Game Writing Style Guide.”

Current Features of the Beginning:
  • Random World Generation - Play Navezgane or roll the dice and dive back into the game with friends in a randomized world with huge cities, towns, rivers, lakes, mountains, valleys, roads, bridges, cave systems and wilderness locations. 
  • Create and Destroy - The world terrain, structures and items can be destroyed or scrapped for resources. Re-purpose collected materials to build custom structures and fortification by hand, placing building pieces into the world in real time. 
  • Terrain Enhancement - The terrain is now both smooth and natural but can still be destroyed and mined. 
  • Upgradable Fort Building - Player built structures are assembled from framework which can be upgraded supporting sod, wood, cobblestone and concrete upgrade paths. Hammer away just like real building and use Land Claim blocks to protect your fort in PvP. 
  • Structural Integrity - Buildings and terrain formations which are too unstable can fall apart if proper supports are not built. Some building materials are stronger than others and pieces which break off and fall can be dangerous or deadly if they fall on you or enemies. 
  • Item Crafting & Degradation - With a continually growing list of over 250 recipes, gather resources such as plant fibers, wood and metal to create weapons and tools such as hand made crossbows, knives and hammers. As your tools wear out over time, use your crafting skills to repair them. 
  • Quality Ranged Gear - Guns, weapons, tools, armor and clothing have quality ranges which govern attributes to provide hundreds of thousands of item permutations. Level up and craft better quality items to survive. 
  • Plants and Animals - Locate seeds to plant and grow vegetables, and head out into the wilderness to hunt animals once the cabinets in abandoned buildings are already plundered. 
  • Stealth System - Sneak past zombies who can see, hear and smell you and smelly items in your inventory and throw rocks to distract them. 
  • Buff/Debuff System – Enjoy or deal with a multitude of buffs or debuffs like a caffeine buzz or a broken leg in our rapidly growing Buff/Debuff System with over a dozen boosts or ailments. 
  • Cooperative Mode - Tired of zombie apocalypses that are more about fighting humans than zombies? Team up with your friends to work with other survivors rather than against them, using group efforts to build settlements and safety. 
  • Character Customization - Full Character creation system with face/body morphing, custom skin, eye, hair color, facial hair and a multitude of visible clothing and armor. 
  • Drivable Vehicles - A badass vehicle system with a Mini Bike that has parts quality, storage and locking. The better the parts the better it drives.

“TY the Tasmanian Tiger is much beloved, and unfortunately rather inaccessible these days, due to the platforms the game was originally released on. Updating the game to work on PCs and releasing in Early Access will allow us to get feedback on the controls, the achievements and all the other modern ideas that we'll be adding, from the fans - and hopefully good ideas for further improvements to make!
